Joanna Peare

Jo is a Registered Nurse with a special interest in emergency, expedition and travel medicine. Jo has lived and worked in remote locations, and has experience working in the area of trauma and refugee care in Africa. Settled now in County Wicklow, Jo teaches remote medicine in on board Superyachts in the Mediterranean, and REC courses to sailors and land-lovers in Ireland.

An offshore sailor and Yachtmaster with almost 30 years’ experience, Jo has sailed 100s of nautical miles and has been faced with looking after casualties offshore on numerous occasions. As an experienced on board medic Jo knows how remote emergency care requires a different approach.

Jo teaches REC First Aid at Sea courses to yachtsmen and sailing instructors. These courses are endorsed by the RYA.

Jo also teaches rock climbers, climbing instructors, mountain leaders, hiking groups, youth development organisations and many others.

When Jo is not sailing or teaching, she can be found paddle boarding, surfing, hill walking and rock climbing.
