Johnny Hancox

Hi, my name is Johnny Hancox, I work in the Social Care Sector and have been working as a full-time Youth Worker for the last 10 years.

Previous to this I had a career in the Irish Defence Forces for 21 years, participating in several overseas tours, specialising in personal protection and decontamination for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear warfare for individuals and search teams.

I have been involved with the Scouts for the last 27 years and have progressed to being a Scout Leader Trainer, including Safeguarding of Young People and Vulnerable Adults.

I am an avid outdoor practitioner, through my work I have become a Kayak, High Ropes (ERCA), Climbing Wall and Archery Instructor and a Wilderness First Responder.

In between my Youth Work and Scouting duties I spend my time with my family, on the river in my kayak or if I’m really lucky, both.
